As someone who was raised in Cobb County and calls Marietta home, it has been an incredible honor to serve as your Representative over the past several years. When I was elected, I promised you that I would fight to strengthen the middle class, increase job opportunities, protect our communities, and seek solutions to the biggest problems facing our state. This is exactly what I’ve done, and I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish.

However, the job is not done and as your Representative, I am committed to continuing this fight. I won’t back down, make excuses, or run from the tough issues. Representative Michael Smith is well respected by his  Republican and Democratic colleagues. Last session Representative Smith was one of only three Democrats to maneuver a bill through a Republican controlled House and Senate. Representative Smith was proud to champion HB 852. HB 852 seeks to alleviate the  anxiety and stress caused by families having to move in the middle of the academic school year.   HB 852 alleviates some of this stress by allowing students who move, an option to attend their original school for the duration of the school year.
